FAQ’s on Stem Cell Treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorder

How long has the treatment been offered?

R3 Stem Cell has been offering regenerative therapies for the past 13 years, with over 25,000 procedures completed. For autism spectrum disorder, R3 began offering treatments 9 years ago. R3 has performed more stem cell therapies for ASD globally than any other company, with hundreds accomplished. The results have been exceptional, with an 85% patient satisfaction rate!

What are the risks?

The side effects seen with stem cell treatment by R3 for Autism are mild to moderate and temporary. These may include dizziness, lightheadedness, chills, low grade fever, nausea, some back pain. Rarely, a child may see temporarily increased hyperactivity for a week or two.

Thankfully, R3 has not seen significant adverse events to date. So these are mentioned anyway because they could occur but would be rare. This may include infection, spinal leak or allergic reaction. R3 has not seen these side effects in ten years.

Where does R3 offer the treatment?

R3 provides the treatment for autism in 6 countries currently. In addition to providing stem cell treatment for autism in Mexico, options include:

What are the outcomes?

The outcomes on stem cell and exosome treatments for autism with R3 have been exceptional. Over 85% of families have been extremely satisfied with their child’s success.

Improvements are often seen in both categories of behavior and communication. Plenty of children who have not spoken before begin speaking after the treatment. Often times, vocabulary dramatically increases and the meaning behind the words increases. Eye contact typically improves along with attention span.

With regard to behavior, a lot of children with ASD have issues with hyperactivity, and possibly aggressive behavior too. The stem cell and exosome therapy tends to help decrease these issues, which is very welcome to parents. This may allow a child to attend school, have play time with friends, and learn more effectively.

The treatments are not FDA approved for autism. They are, however, FDA regulated. This means the biologics used in the USA are strictly regulated for proper and safe manufacturing standards.

Interestingly, just because a treatment is not FDA approved, does NOT mean it doesn’t work exceptionally well. In fact, stem cell treatment works great for ASD.

In order to obtain the best outcomes for ASD patients, the treatments are customized. R3 bases a child’s protocol on weight along with severity. A combination of umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells are incorporated, along with umbilical derived exosomes. A multivitamin IV drip is added too.

Typically, R3 provides stem cells through both an intrathecal application along with an IV drip too. The intrathecal application is essentially a “reverse” spinal tap, and allow R3 to get millions of stem cells safely to the brain.

As a new option, R3 now offers the biologics through an intranasal application as well. The device used is patented and atomizes the biologics to easily and safely reach the central nervous system.

Since most of the ASD children are hyperactive, it’s difficult to achieve needed treatment withour sedation. R3’s anesthesiologists offer conscious sedation for patients. This means they are sedated, but not under general anesthesia. With the sedation, the children don’t feel the procedure or remember it.

R3’s treatments have been exceptionally successful year after year. Over 85% of patients and their families are satisfied with the outcomes. They state they would have their child do it again, and recommend it to friends and family.

R3’s anesthesiologists incorporate conscious sedation for patients. This means the children are awake, just sedated. This means they won’t experience pain, or remember the procedure. Full monitoring is used which follows blood pressure, pulse and oxygen saturation.

Yes, R3 allows a parent in the room for the procedure. Just one parent though.

Years ago, R3 tested using exosomes with the mesenchymal stem cells. The result was impressive, with the already great results jumping up to a new level.

So R3 will apply the exosomes both IV drip and intranasal. They are exceptional at faciliting new neurologic connections and what R3 calls “neuro-networking).

R3 prides itself on the combination that most other centers cannot achieve. This includes high numbers of stem cells and exosomes, safety testing that is first rate, and protocols that provide the best outcomes.

All of this is provided at the most affordable rates globally. We know that most patients receive additional treatments, so it’s important to offer them very cost effectively.

R3’s rates vary a bit from country to country. In Mexico and Turkey, currently 100 million stem cells and 50 billion exosomes costs $8850 USD. This is less than half what R3’s reputable competitors charge.

R3 Stem Cell does not mandate the need for repeat treatments. However, two thirds of families do opt for repeat treatments to gain new milestones.

With R3’ biologics, rejection has not been seen. The umbilical cord stem cells do not contain MHC-2 markers, and are therefore not rejected. Scientists refer to this as being “immunologically privileged.”

There are quite a few peer-reviewed journal articles showing that umbilical cord stem cells neither cause nor exacerbate tumors/cancer. This is welcome news to patients concerned about the stem cells leading to cancer.

R3 carries the cells to each country on dry ice. This keeps the cells frozen and viable. At each clinic around the world, R3 has an on-site cryofreezerl

R3’s team has consistently checked the viability of cells when they come out of the cryofreezer. Testing shows 93-97%. For those cells that are used fresh without cryopreservation, the viability is over 99.9%!
